THE UNIFICATION OF WORLD FAITHDavid A Hart, has just launched his latest book with his ideas for the future The book, sixth in the series, discusses the contributions rendered by Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism in five chapters. Drawing inspiration from the unification movement of Sun Myung Moon, the South Korean religious leader who talked about the desirability of unifying Christianity, the Rev. Hart’s 112-page book proposes religious unification as a panacea for evils such as communalism and terrorism affecting the contemporary world. The book urges readers to learn as much as possible about the spiritual world, by participating in and celebrating one another’s faith rather than drawing safe circles around the religion in which they stand. In fact, in his previous book, Trading Faith: Global Religion in an Age of Rapid Change, published last year, Rev. Hart explains how for him the principle led to an embrace of Hinduism and a new name, Ananda Krishna Das. “The world today is like a flecked carpet, wherever you live you are influenced by the contributions of these five major religions,” said the Rev. Hart. The author, who works as a lecturer at the Centre for American Studies in India, said 50 per cent of the unification process was accomplished in Kerala. “The State with its multi-religious population and communal harmony provides an envious situation for an inter-faith dialogue,” he said. The book is priced at £10.99 |
